North Lenoir sweeps North Pitt, improves to 10-1
LA GRANGE — North Lenoir continued its strong start to the volleyball season Wednesday night, sweeping North Pitt in straight sets to improve to 10-1 overall and remain unbeaten in Three Rivers 4A Conference play.
The Hawks defeated the Panthers 25-22, 25-17 and 25-10, improving to 3-0 in conference play.
North Lenoir was pushed in the opening set before taking it 25-22, then created more separation as the match progressed. The Hawks won the second set by eight points before closing the night with a 15-point victory in the third.
Kennedi Starkie led North Lenoir with eight kills and nine service points. Ale Rodriguez added six kills, while Maddie Howard directed the offense with 23 assists.
Kenzie Carson provided a big night from the service line with 17 service points.
The victory keeps North Lenoir alone without a conference loss through its first three Three Rivers matches.
The Hawks now turn their attention to a key home matchup Thursday against Washington. The Pam Pack enters the match 7-2 and is coming off a 3-1 victory over Greene Central on Tuesday night.
Washington has one conference loss, falling to West Craven earlier this season, while North Lenoir enters Thursday at 3-0 in league play.
With the Hawks sitting at 10-1 and Washington among the teams chasing them in the conference standings, Thursday's match gives North Lenoir an opportunity to strengthen its early position atop the Three Rivers 4A Conference.
