Kinston High's Carmin Davis Commits to Methodist University for Basketball and Track

Kinston High School athletics celebrated senior Carmin Davis officially announcing her decision to attend Methodist University, where she will continue her athletic career in both basketball and track. The announcement came last Friday, marking a significant milestone for the multi-talented athlete who has excelled across several sports disciplines, including basketball, indoor track, outdoor track, and softball.

Carmin's athletic journey is notable not only for her achievements but also for her remarkable ability to manage overlapping sports seasons. Balancing indoor track and basketball during the winter and juggling outdoor track with softball in spring, Carmin has demonstrated exceptional time management and dedication.

Her decision came down to a choice among NC Wesleyan, Methodist University, and Barton College, with Methodist ultimately winning out. Carmen's commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics played a key role in her decision, reflecting her aspirations and the robust support system backing her pursuits.

"Carmin is a great young lady to coach. Her best days are definitely ahead of her," remarked Chris Bradshaw, her basketball coach at Kinston High. Coach Corey Bryant, Men’s Track Coach, also praised Carmin's work ethic: "We never had to ask her to go to work… It was a lot of times when track practice was over with, and she would come over to get extra throws in just to get better."

Behind her athletic and academic success are Carmin's parents, Denika and Tim Davis, who have been foundational in her development. "I am very proud of Carmin. She is consistent, she is a hard worker, she loves basketball, she loves track, and she really gives it her all," said Denika Davis.

Tim Davis shared his awe at Carmin's commitment, saying, "I can't even put it in words. She played softball, basketball, indoor track, even talked about trying volleyball at one point in time. I tried to figure how she was going to pull it all off and she did, on top of having great academics and a great attitude."

As she prepares to take the next step in her athletic and academic journey, Carmin leaves behind a legacy of leadership and perseverance at Kinston High. "She has always set the right example for her younger sisters, Camille and Cimone. She is going to be an amazing young woman," Denika added.

The Kinston community, her coaches, and her family eagerly anticipate her future successes at Methodist University, confident that her best days are indeed ahead. Carmin Davis is not just a remarkable athlete; she's a beacon of dedication and discipline, destined to inspire many who will follow in her footsteps at Kinston High School and beyond.
