Greene Central and Kinston Well Represented in Saturday’s Showcase Bowl in Greenville

Saturday’s Showcase Bowl: 919 vs. 252 at John Paul II Catholic High School will feature elite high school football talent from across North Carolina, and two familiar programs in eastern North Carolina will be well represented on the Team 252 sideline.

Greene Central and Kinston will both have multiple players participating in the all-star event, which brings together standout seniors for one final opportunity to compete under the lights.

Greene Central Representation

Greene Central leads the way locally, both on the field and the sideline.

Jason Wilson, the Rams’ head coach, will serve as Team 252’s head coach, guiding the eastern North Carolina squad in Saturday’s matchup. Wilson has been a steady presence on the Greene Central sideline and now takes on the responsibility of leading a roster made up of top players from across the region.

On the field, Greene Central will be represented by four players:

Craig Whitley
Nicholas Avent
Dejuan Cobb
Deuce Wilson

Each player earned a roster spot through their performances during the high school season, giving Greene Central one of the strongest showings among local programs in the event.

Kinston Representation

Kinston will also have a strong presence in the Showcase Bowl, highlighted by two familiar names:

Ex’Zavion Croom
Tyler Jones

Both players have been key contributors for the Vikings and now get the opportunity to represent their program on a regional stage against top competition. They also will have Coach Vinston Thorpe on the sidelines helping them throughout the game.

The Showcase Bowl matches Team 252 against Team 919, dividing players by geographic region and offering a fast-paced, talent-rich environment that allows athletes to compete alongside peers they normally face as opponents.

The game serves as both a celebration of the players’ high school careers and an opportunity for continued exposure as they move toward the next level.
