Greene County 8U All Stars wins District 6

After a remarkable display in the District 6 Championship, the Greene County 8U All-Stars, under the guidance of head coach Patrick Cobb and assistant coaches Mark Ross, Justin Wilkes, and Jason Hamm, are gearing up to compete in the State Tournament. The tournament will begin on July 27th in Washington.

"I told them we could do it but it wouldn’t be easy. I told them all the hard work would pay off, and they had to believe. I’m very proud of them; they earned it," commented a beaming Coach Cobb.

The triumphant roster includes:

Mekhi Dunn, Luke Ross, Tyson Brock, Hudson Ham, Carter Ellis, Asher Mitchell, Wynn Wilkes, Mason Loper, Lincoln Strickland, Tucker Cobb, Luke Byrum

After winning the District 6 All-Star Tournament last year, the team entered this year's championship with renewed vigor, several returning players, and high expectations. Despite a tough 10-8 loss to Williamston in extra innings in their opening match, the GC 8U All-Stars rebounded with four consecutive victories, setting the stage for a championship showdown against the same Williamston team.

Cobb recalls the tense encounter: "I was confident my group would compete but honestly I didn’t know if we could beat them twice (double elimination). After the first game, 12-11 walk-off in the bottom of the 6th, our crowd took the 2nd game also 5-4!"

Cobb commended the Williamston team, acknowledging the three tough games they played against each other during the tournament. The double victory was a testament to the determination and resilience of the GC 8U All-Stars.

In celebrating his players, Coach Cobb affirmed, "Congratulations to my players, they definitely earned this one! We are going to continue to work hard for the next couple of weeks and hopefully make a run in the State Tournament in Washington!"

The State Tournament will certainly be a challenge, but the Greene County 8U All-Stars have proven they are up to the task. Their journey is a powerful statement of what the future holds for Greene County Baseball.
