BREAKING: North Lenoir Baseball Coach Jackson Massey Steps Down

BREAKING NEWS:

In a surprising turn of events, Jackson Massey, the accomplished head coach of North Lenoir's baseball team, is stepping down from his position.

Massey has had a significant and successful career both as a player and a coach. As a player, he showcased his prowess at Charles B Aycock High School, graduating in 2006, and later honed his skills at Mount Olive College from 2007 to 2010. Massey was a key part of the 2008 Division 2 National Championship Team, boasting an impressive 58-6 record. In 2010, his leadership skills earned him the Team Captain title, and his athletic abilities won him first-team all-conference, all-tournament team, and first-team all-region as a starting pitcher.

Switching to the coaching side of the field, Massey commenced his career as an assistant coach at Rosewood High School in 2011. He then took on head coaching responsibilities at Goldsboro High ('12-'13) and Southern Wayne High ('14-'16). Massey has served as the North Lenoir skipper since spring '17, where he has cultivated a commendable 107-39 record (Maxpreps). During his tenure, the Hawks boasted four conference championships and two Eastern finals appearances.

"Working at North Lenoir has been a dream come true for the last seven years. The former and current players have given me everything I could ever hope for as a Coach," Massey stated in his departure announcement. "With that being said, I have decided to step down and move my career in a different direction."

Massey expressed his gratitude towards the LCPS administration, particularly Mrs. Greene, Mr. Respess, Coach Carson, and Coach Montague, for their unwavering support. "I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this baseball program, and as always, GO HAWKS," Massey concluded.
