GCMS Controls Grifton on 8th Grade Night
GCMS took care of business on 8th Grade Night, knocking off Grifton 45–31 to improve to 11-1 overall and a perfect 10-0 in conference play.
The home side set the tone early, racing out to a 22–4 lead by the end of the first quarter as the starting five put on a strong opening display. GCMS maintained control through the first half, but Grifton responded after the break.
Behind a 20-point performance from Gavyn Frazer (#24), Grifton chipped away at the deficit over the next two quarters, trimming the GCMS lead to eight heading into the fourth. GCMS reinserted its starters to open the final period and regained control, closing the game on a strong note to secure the 14-point win.
GCMS had a balanced scoring effort, led by Kyler Davis and Jayden Barnes with nine points each. Josiah Joyner added eight, while Nathan Ross and Kam Jones finished with six apiece.
The night carried extra significance as all 12 eighth graders saw considerable minutes in front of the home crowd, capping off a successful and memorable evening.
GCMS is scheduled to travel to Ayden on Monday, weather permitting.
