Greene Central Rams Cap Off Perfect Regular Season with Commanding Win Over Croatan

Submitted by: Coach Jason Wilson

SNOW HILL, NC — In an emphatic close to their regular season, the Greene Central Rams clinched a flawless record of 21-0 with a resounding 10-0 victory over 3A Croatan in just five innings. The win against Croatan, who held a strong 16-4 record and ranked #2 in 3A, underscored the Rams' dominance throughout the season.

Pitching Mastery by Austin Hardy

Austin Hardy was the standout performer of the game, pitching a complete game, yielding only one hit and striking out ten batters. His masterful performance on the mound was pivotal in securing the shutout. "It feels great, man, I was in the zone before the game so I knew coming out here I would be good," Hardy shared postgame. He also praised his team's defensive efforts, adding, "We work on defense, defense, and defense every day so I trust them to make every play."

Offensive Onslaught

The Rams' bats were just as hot as their pitching, going 11 for 22 at the plate. Key hitters included Cameron Taylor, Will Radford, Noah Uzzell, and Braden Buress, each of whom notched two hits. In total, seven different players contributed RBIs, showcasing the depth and versatility of the Rams' lineup. Easton Creech led the Rams with RBIs with two. Coach Ben Brann highlighted the importance of this depth: "When you got 7,8,9 lineup guys getting on the bags for the top of the lineup, it's extremely huge. I am proud of all of these guys."

Playoff Ambitions

With the NCHSAA playoff brackets set to be released on May 6th, Greene Central is not just aiming to participate; they are looking to avenge last year's loss in the fourth round. "We are extremely ready; all the boys love to compete. They compete every day in practice no matter what drill," Coach Brann expressed, signaling his confidence in the team's playoff readiness.

Looking Ahead

As the Rams prepare for the postseason, their perfect regular season and dominant performances have set high expectations. The community and fans are eagerly anticipating a deep playoff run, hoping that the team's balanced strength in both offense and defense will carry them further than the previous year.

Greene Central's journey through the playoffs is highly anticipated, with hopes high that this year, the Rams will not only compete but prevail and perhaps secure the championship that eluded them last season.
