Kinston/Lenoir County Alumni Weekend is BACK!

Kinston/Lenoir County Alumni Weekend is BACK!

Get ready, Kinston! The big SJG Kinston/Lenoir County Sports Alumni Weekend is happening from July 14th to July 16th, 2023. This is a super fun three-day sports party! Hometown basketball hero, Jerry Stackhouse, will be there, along with many other famous sports stars.

The mission of the event is deeply rooted in community building. It aims to "connect the family tree of Kinston area sports alumni to the community of student athletes, providing support and resources to pass on the legacy of passion, hardworking, and competition while having a vision to empower and motivate the youth connected to the area to dream big, set goals, and give back."

Kicking off on Friday, July 14th, the festivities begin at the prestigious Cutter Creek Golf Club, where participants will enjoy the Fishers of Kids Anglers Academy & Cutter Creek Golf Club Tournament. Hosted by Stackhouse himself, it's an unparalleled opportunity to rub shoulders with a sports icon. As the sun sets, the action will move to the Kinston Community Center for an adult game night. Here, attendees can reminisce the old times, make new memories and pay tribute to community service leaders during the Scholarship Sneaker Ball.

The excitement escalates on Saturday, July 15th, at Lenoir Community College. The college will play host to the Kinston/Lenoir County Sports Alumni Basketball tournament. An unmissable event for sports fans, alumni from Kinston and Lenoir County will return to the court for a thrilling day of basketball. Alongside the game, the venue will be buzzing with a car & bike show, food trucks, vendors, and a host of fun-filled activities for kids. The day, charged with exhilarating sports action, culminates in a Tournament Extravaganza After Party at the Social House Downtown Kinston, featuring live music from Dog Star Chaos and special artists.

The grand finale on Sunday, July 16th, promises a laid-back day of tailgating, Alumni Flag Football, and Softball games at Kinston High School. The cherry on top will be a fun Celebrity vs First Responders softball game.

Adding star power to the event will be an array of notable guests, including NFL/ECU’s David Garrard, NFL/NC State’s Terence Holt, Kinston’s Lynn Dawson, NBA/UNC legends Rasheed Wallace and Phil Ford, MLB’s Chris Hechter, Street Outlaws’ Al Boogy-Robinson, and many others.

This special event is made for everyone who loves sports, people who live in our community, and kids like you! It's all about feeling like you're part of something big, working hard, and never giving up on your dreams. Our town of Kinston is excited to bring everyone together to celebrate sports and friendship. It's going to be a super fun weekend that you will definitely want to be a part of!
