GREENVILLE—Sports and determination might just be in the DNA of rising sixth-grader Kenzie Carson from Frink Middle School in La Grange.

Currently making waves in the 12U Little League World Series, her journey is enhanced by the rich sports legacy of her family. Both of Kenzie's parents have deep coaching roots. Her father, Mark Carson, formerly coached basketball at North Pitt High School, while Coach Heather Carson serves as the Athletic Director of North Lenoir High School. Heather's impressive credentials extend to long-standing roles as the Head Volleyball Coach and as a previous softball coach at the same institution.

Kenzie, a 5'4" right-handed dynamo, has been a central figure for the Pitt County Little League team. While she has showcased her prowess predominantly at first base, her versatility is evident with her listed at third base as well.

The tournament has witnessed the Pitt County North Carolina team displaying tenacity and skill. Their face-off against the Texas team, denoted as Southwest in the bracket, resulted in a 6-1 setback. Kenzie went 1-1 with one walk. Yet, in the game against the Philippines, Kenzie and her team rebounded beautifully, clinching a 4-2 victory. Kenzie's contribution was vital, as she went 1-2 with an RBI double bomb hit to the warning track..

The drama continues to unfold as the North Carolina team gears up for a pivotal contest against the Central regional champions from Ohio. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 9th, at 1 PM (ET) at Stallings Stadium, this encounter promises to be a nail-biter.

While the entire Pitt County team remains focused on the tournament, back home in La Grange, all eyes are on Kenzie. Influenced by a strong sporting background and with the support of her accomplished mother, Coach Heather Carson, Kenzie's journey in the Little League World Series has the entire community cheering in anticipation.
