Lancers Surge To The Championship
The Lenoir Community College Lancers (36-16) fire back hard with their backs against the wall. The Lancers went down in Round 2 to Pitt Community College in the Region 10 Baseball Tournament. Following their initial setback, the Lancers went on a four-game winning streak, defeating Bryant & Stratton, Cleveland Community College, Pitt CC, and finally Catawba Valley, surging to the championship.
The Lancers' impressive performance against Catawba Valley last night included 27 hits, 25 runs, and zero errors. Catawba Valley put up a fight with 17 hits, 10 runs, and four errors, but ultimately fell short with a final score of LCC 25, CVCC 10.
During the rematch against Pitt, Danny Staley went 2 for 5, Logan Merritt hit 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Logan Brown was 2 for 5 with two RBIs, Will Orr 2 for 4, and Tanner Cannon hit a 2-run homer, going 1 for 4 with a stolen base.
Pitcher Colin Wyant played a crucial role, throwing 8.2 innings, allowing only four hits and striking out five. This outstanding performance helped propel the Lancers.
The Lancers now face Catawba Valley in the Region 10 Baseball Tournament Championship today at 1:00 PM.
