NCHSAA SOCCER PLAYOFFS: Greene Central, North Lenoir, and Jones Senior Battle In the Third Round Tonight

The NCHSAA Soccer Playoffs kicks back open tonight with 3rd round action, lets check out our three local teams still fighting.

1A EAST

No. 12 Jones Senior (12-5) defeated No. 28 Oxford Prep (6-14-3) 5-1 in the second round. Now Jones Senior has to travel to Durham to face #4 Voyager Academy (14-4-1) at 6:00.

The Voyagers are very good team that have played some tough competition out in the triangle area. They are led by Aiden Jaeger who leads the team in scoring with 30 points (11 goals, 8 assist) and next to him is Lucas Brogdon with 28 points (12 goals, 4 assist). Hopefully the scoring power of Jones Senoir deadly duo, Oliver Pfyl and Kevin Sanchez-Valdez, will be enough for the Trojans.

2A EAST

The Hawks are still soaring!! No. 26 North Lenoir (12-9) upset No. 10 Heide Trask (12-12-1) 2-1 tight game. Tonight at 6:00, the Hawks have to travel to Wake Forest to face the #2 seed Franklin Academy (16-4-3).

Franklin is a very strong team, one of the best teams in the playoffs. They rushed through the first two rounds against local opponents ( Farmville Central, North Pitt) by a combined score of 13-1. Franklin is lead by two seniors, #7 Holt Lane and #23 Nick Fitzgerald, who have combined for 53 goals and 21 assist. The Hawks Trio of Maddox Smith, Jesus Tyndall, and Israel Almanza must be strong and productive to keep dancing.

No. 5 Greene Central (16-4-1) survived a thriller with No. 12 Research Triangle (15-4-2) with winning 1-1 with (4-3) penalty kicks. Now the Rams have to travel 140 miles to face #4 Manteo (14-5-1) tonight at 6:00. Manteo scoring is spreader through out the lineup but ultimately lead by senior #10 Dylan Jones with 16 goals.

This will be the second trip the Rams have taken to Manteo this season, as the Rams defeated Manteo 1-0 in the first game of the season at their place.
