North Lenoir Girls Basketball Wins Second Straight Conference Game
North Lenoir girls basketball continued its late-season push on Tuesday night, picking up a 53-49 conference win over North Pitt to move to 9-12 overall on the season.
The victory marked the Hawks’ second consecutive conference win, following last Saturday’s triumph over Eastern Wayne. With the win, North Lenoir improves to 5-5 in league play, climbing into fourth place in the conference standings.
Sophomore point guard Cassidee Fraser led the Hawks with 16 points, while Tashenna Lynch added 14 and Sienna Robinson chipped in 12. North Lenoir showed balanced scoring throughout the lineup, building a 27-15 halftime advantage after scoring 27 points in the first half.
North Pitt answered with a strong third-quarter surge, pouring in 22 points to cut into the deficit. Rihanna Lightfoot sparked the comeback effort, scoring 12 of her game-high 19 points in the third quarter to lead all scorers.
Despite the Panthers’ rally, North Lenoir held on down the stretch to secure the four-point conference win.
The Hawks will celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday at home against West Craven before closing the regular season on Feb. 16 against North Johnston.
