North Lenoir rebounds with four-set win over Greene Central

LA GRANGE — North Lenoir bounced back from its first loss of the season with a four-set victory over Greene Central, improving to 6-1.

The Hawks defeated the Rams 25-20, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17.

Kennedi Starkie led North Lenoir with 11 kills and 14 service points. Camryn Jenkins added nine kills, while Raye Tilghman finished with six.

Maddie Howard helped run the offense with 28 assists, while Abigail Slaughter recorded 13 service points and Kenzie Carson added 12.

The victory came after North Lenoir suffered its first loss of the season against Hunt in four sets, 19-25, 25-23, 24-26, 21-25.

Jenkins had six kills and 10 service points in that match, Tilghman added five kills and Starkie recorded five blocks.

North Lenoir coach Heather Carson said the Hawks are continuing to develop as the season moves forward.

“They are working hard and battling each game,” Carson said. “We still have things to work on and just trying to get better.”

North Lenoir will look to continue its strong start when it hosts South Lenoir on Aug. 27.

Greene Central fell to 3-3 with the loss and will return home to face Hunt today.
