Radford’s Big Night Powers Greene Central Past Farmville Central
Riley Radford delivered at the plate in a big way Tuesday, driving in four runs to lead Greene Central to a 12-0 win over Farmville Central.
The senior set the tone early, launching a three-run home run to left field in the first inning. He followed it up in the second with a run-scoring double as part of a five-run frame that broke the game open.
Greene Central wasted no time building control. After Radford’s first-inning blast, the Rams erupted in the second inning with contributions across the lineup. Will Radford singled in a run, Riley Radford added two more with his double, Logan Burress drove in another, and Austin Oliver capped the inning with an RBI single.
On the mound, sophomore Sutton Harris continued his strong season. Harris earned the win, tossing three hitless innings with five strikeouts and one walk. The outing improved him to 5-1 on the year.
Harris has been dominant in recent appearances. Over his last nine innings (two outings), he has allowed just four hits while striking out 11 and not surrendering a run. For the season, Harris has logged 38 innings with 47 strikeouts and only 17 walks, allowing just 10 runs—seven of which came in a single outing against Northern Nash.
Senior Noah Roberson followed with three innings of one-hit relief, striking out four to complete the shutout.
Greene Central finished with 11 hits on the night. Riley Radford, fellow senior Will Radford, and Logan Burress each collected two hits, while junior Mason Dillon also added a multi-hit performance. The Rams showed patience at the plate with six walks and applied pressure on the bases with four stolen bases.
Defensively, Greene Central was clean, committing no errors.
Farmville Central managed just one hit in the contest.
With the win, Greene Central improves to 11-6 on the season and has now won eight of the last nine meetings against Farmville Central.
