Rams extend win streak to Six games with 4-0 win over Ayden-Grifton

Austin Hardy threw a gem on Tuesday for Greene Central (8-3, 5-0), allowing zero runs and shutting out Ayden-Grifton (6-5, 2-3) by a score of 4-0. The win extends the Rams win streak to six games.

Greene Central got things moving in the second inning. The Rams scored one run when Braden Burress hit a triple to drive in Easton Creech.

Hardy was the winning pitcher for the Greene Central Rams. The lefty surrendered zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out 13.

This is the third straight game Hardy has started and thrown at least 13 strikeouts. In the last three games, Hardy has combined for 46 strikeouts.

“I started off the year on and off, kinda shaky,” Hardy said on his season so far. “But once I found it, I have stayed hot punching the striking zone.”

The Rams racked up six hits in the game.  Wilkes Thomas and Burress all managed multiple hits for Greene Central.  Burress and Thomas all had two hits to lead Greene Central.  Greene Central Rams were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.

"It’s definitely been a point of emphasis at practice," GC coach Ben Brann said about eliminating errors. "We knew coming in defense would be a strength of ours, so that’s something we hang our hats on."

The Rams are back in action Friday night in Snow Hill against Ayden-Grifton.
