South Lenoir sweeps Heide Trask for conference-opening win

ROCKY POINT — South Lenoir opened East Central 3A/4A Conference play with a strong road performance Thursdays night, sweeping Heide Trask 3-0.

The Blue Devils won 25-15, 25-22 and 25-23 to improve to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Several players contributed across the stat sheet.

Reese Cash led the attack with nine kills while adding 20 digs and five aces. Chesleigh Moore finished with eight kills and five digs, while Olivia Conner put together an all-around performance with five kills, 20 assists, 12 digs and five aces.

Eliza Hawkins added five kills and three digs. Sloan Cash recorded three kills, while Skyler Day contributed 18 digs, two assists and one kill.

Lily Cole anchored the defense with a team-high 35 digs while also adding two aces, one kill and one assist.

Samantha Holland helped direct the offense with nine assists. Addison Jones finished with seven digs and an ace, and Cloey Cole added one kill.

South Lenoir is tied atop the early East Central 3A/4A standings with East Duplin and Clinton at 1-0 in conference play.

The Blue Devils return to conference action Tuesday, Sept. 15, on the road against Clinton. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
