The "Big 3" lead the Hawks past the Blue Devils to advance to the semifinals

JACKSONVILLE- It is not how you start but how you finish.

North Lenoir started the season with three losses but now after the first round of the East Central Conference tournament the Hawks are on a five game winning streak. The Hawks were matched up against South Lenoir and defeated the Blue Devils 63-37.

The Hawks captain and the areas leading scorer Treshad Lynch drained three 3pters in the first quarter to kick start the blow out. The Blue Devils got the opportunites but couldn't capitalize finishing the first quarter 1-6 from the free throw line. Zyaire Rosber and Lynch combined for 18 points to give the Hawks a 22-9 lead at the end of the quarter.

The Hawks never looked back after the early lead and increased their margin by up to 30 points. Hawks “Big 3” was in full effect scoring 56 of the 63 points. Rosber led all scorers with 23 points, Lynch dropped 18 points, and Malachi Ramsey add 10 points.

South Lenoir big man Rayquan Williams led the Blue Devils with 10 points.

North Lenoir will play the number two seed Southwest Onslow tomorrow at Kinston High at 7:00pm. The Hawks have yet to defeat Southwest this year but are looking to extend their 5 game win streak to advance to the conference championship.

“We gotta keep the energy up, 100 percent throughout the whole game til the buzzer,” Sophomore Ramsey said was key to beating the Stallions.

Lynch plans on using the past to fuel the future.

“We got to learn from the first two losses and fix the problems from those game,” Lynch said.

Will the Hawks stay hot and possible meet Kinston for Round 3 in the Conference Championships? We will find out in 24 hours.
