Vikings Stumble Against Stallions

JACKSONVILLE—Kinston falls short to the Stallions to get their first loss in the conference, which makes the Vikings 15-5 on the season and 8-1 in the conference, while the Stallions are 14-5 on the season and 7-1 in the conference.

Kinston head coach was forced to call a timeout within 3 minutes of the first quarter because the Stallions had gone on a 9-0 run. Kinston came out of the timeout and tried to take control, only allowing just 7 points in the last 5 minutes to end the first quarter down 16-8.

Kinston's Tyreek Copper had 20 points in the loss, helping his team get back in the game and outscoring the Stallions 20-17, causing the halftime score to be 33-28.

Coach Tyndall said, “I thought from the tip we were not aggressive in how we played. Our first 4 shots were 3 pointers and nothing attacking, and I thought they had more of an attack mindset from the start that we didn’t answer for the majority of the night. Something that we must own and not allow to happen again. Face two tough opponents on the road next week.”

The Stallions would start the second half off strong as they did in the first quarter, causing 3 of Kinston's players to foul out, also shooting 44 total free throws in the whole game while Kinston only shot 17. 26 of those free throws came in the fourth quarter to Kinston's 5 free throws.
