North Lenoir Sends Six Athletes to BODYARMOR State Games, Marks Historic Milestone for School Athletics
LA GRANGE — North Lenoir High School will have a strong presence at the upcoming BODYARMOR State Games of North Carolina, with six student-athletes earning spots on East Region teams across three different sports.
The selections mark a significant achievement for the Hawks athletic program, as it is the first time in school history that three different sports will be represented at the State Games. It also marks the first-ever selection for North Lenoir women's soccer.
North Lenoir's baseball program will send three players to represent the East Team. Rising junior Daniel Boyette earned a spot as both a pitcher and infielder after another strong season for the Hawks. Joining him are rising senior infielder Brayden Pridgen and rising sophomore outfielder Mason Murphy.
The trio will have the opportunity to compete against some of the state's top baseball talent during the annual showcase event. Baseball competition is scheduled for June 15-19 and will be played at First National Bank Field, Truist Point Stadium and the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
The Hawks will also be represented on the East Men's Soccer Team by rising juniors Evan Smith and Adam Romig.
Smith has established himself as one of the area's top goalkeepers and serves as a captain for North Lenoir. Romig has been a key piece of the Hawks' defense as a starting center back and helped anchor the team's back line throughout the season.
Making history for the women's soccer program is rising senior Riley Evans, who becomes the first Lady Hawk soccer player selected for the State Games. A two-year captain, Evans has been one of North Lenoir's most productive offensive players, leading the team in both goals and assists.
The soccer competitions will take place June 27-28 at the Armfield Athletic Center on the campus of Guilford College in Greensboro.
Having athletes selected across baseball, men's soccer and women's soccer highlights the growth and success of North Lenoir athletics. With six athletes representing the school on the East Teams, the Hawks will be well represented on one of North Carolina's biggest stages for high school talent.
North Lenoir coaches, teammates and supporters will now have the opportunity to cheer on their Hawks as they compete against the best athletes from across the state.
Congratulations to Daniel Boyette, Brayden Pridgen, Mason Murphy, Evan Smith, Adam Romig and Riley Evans on their selections to the BODYARMOR State Games of North Carolina East Teams.
