BREAKING NEWS: North Lenoir hires Cameron Sherrer as head baseball coach

North Lenoir High School's announcement of Cameron Sherrer as the next head baseball coach has sent waves of excitement through the local sports community. Coach Sherrer, who served as an assistant under Jackson Massey last season and coached with the Kinston Wingmen this past summer, is eagerly looking forward to continuing the rich baseball tradition at North Lenoir.

"I am very honored and excited to continue to coach at NL and carry on the NL Baseball tradition," said Sherrer, expressing his gratitude and eagerness to take on this new role.

Cam Sherrer brings with him an impressive background in both playing and coaching baseball. Hailing from Arizona, he graduated from Dobson High School in 2007 and then attended Scottsdale Community College, where he helped his team reach the JUCO World Series and finish as runners-up. Sherrer's college career continued at the University of Mount Olive, where he earned All-Conference Carolinas honors as a Second Baseman in 2012.

His passion for the game led him to play for the Schaumburg Boomers in the Frontier League, where he achieved the pinnacle of success by winning the League Championship in 2014. After concluding his playing career in 2015, Sherrer returned to his hometown in Arizona before moving to Fresno, California, with his wife, Landess.

Coach Sherrer's coaching journey started at Bullard High School in California, where he worked under the guidance of Chad Thornhill for three years. However, his heart led him back to North Carolina, and for the past five years, he has been an integral part of the coaching staff at North Lenoir, contributing his expertise as the Infield and Offensive Coach alongside Jackson Massey.

Off the field, Sherrer finds joy in family life, residing in Kinston with his wife Landess, and their son, Cannon, along with their beloved dogs Oakley and Finley. Reflecting on his career, one of the standout moments was hitting a Grand Slam in front of his mom, dad, and wife, creating cherished memories that further fuel his passion for the sport.

With his extensive experience both as a player and coach, Coach Sherrer is poised to make a significant impact on the North Lenoir baseball program.
