Brennan Chambers Brings Big-Play Potential to Kinston’s Championship Chase

When Brennan Chambers announced his transfer to Kinston High School this summer, eyebrows across the 3A East went up.

A 6-foot-5 deep threat who averaged more than 30 yards per catch last season at Spring Creek, Chambers brings elite size, speed, and college-ready polish to an already explosive Kinston offense. His commitment to Marshall is locked in, but his high school journey is far from over—he’s here to win.

“I wanted to go to a school that would prepare me for the next level and give me a chance to win games,” Chambers said. “Kinston was that place.”

The Vikings made it to the fourth round of the NCHSAA 2A playoffs last season and are now a legitimate 3A East contender with the return of senior quarterback Tyler Jones (3,000+ yards, 31 TDs) and NC State commit Tyreek Copper, one of the state’s most productive receivers. With Chambers now in the mix, Kinston’s passing attack might be the most dangerous in the classification.

The chemistry between the trio? Already dialed in.

“It feels like we’ve been playing together for years,” Chambers said. “Our chemistry is natural, and I’m excited to see what we can do together on the field.”

For Chambers, the move is about more than exposure. He’s never been to the playoffs and sees this fall as a shot to change that narrative—and leave a legacy in the process.

“Actually, I’m relaxed,” he said. “I’m motivated and focused on winning. Being part of a team this talented takes the pressure off me—I don’t have to carry everything.”

Still, the numbers he posted last season can’t be ignored: 33 catches, 1,057 yards, 13 touchdowns—in just eight games. His arrival stretches defenses and gives Jones another lethal option downfield.

“I feel like my game is the perfect match for Kinston’s offense,” Chambers said. “They like to pass, and that’s what I do best.”

Already committed to Marshall, Chambers credits the Thundering Herd’s coaching staff for making him feel like family from day one. But his visibility has taken another leap since landing at Kinston.

“I’m seeing a lot more media attention,” he said. “My name is getting recognized across local and state platforms now.”

As for what the Viking faithful can expect?

“They can expect a high-energy and committed team player,” Chambers said. “And I’m a threat to score every time I touch the ball.”
