Greene Central Blasts Beddingfield 23-0 Behind Anna Katherine Medlin's Big Day
SNOW HILL — After 1,097 days without a win, the Greene Central Varsity Lady Rams made their long-awaited return to the win column with authority, overwhelming Beddingfield 23-0 on Monday afternoon.
The victory marked Greene Central’s first since April 27, 2022, snapping a 3-year, 1-day drought that spanned 41 straight losses. And it wasn’t just a win — it was a statement.
Anna Katherine Medlin led the offensive eruption, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a pair of two-run singles in a 14-run first inning that set the tone. Grace Baggett also collected three hits and two RBIs, while Melanie Brown added a 2-for-2 performance with a double and three RBIs.
The Rams piled up 13 hits and drew 14 walks. Jayce Russell and Shelby McKeel each earned three free passes to help power the offense, which sent 18 batters to the plate in the first inning alone.
Anna Kearney was dominant in the circle, throwing three shutout innings with five strikeouts and allowing just two hits and one walk. Greene Central played clean defensively as well, with Kryslyn Brock recording a team-high five chances without an error.
Beddingfield managed just two hits in the game — one apiece from Destiny Anderson and J Morales.
After three years of waiting, Greene Central didn’t just break the streak — they shattered it.
