SNOW HILL — Greene County Middle School (5-2 overall, 3-1 conference) is poised for a historic showdown as they host FarmVille on Thursday at 4 p.m. for the Division 2 championship, aiming to claim their first conference title since 2016 and their first-ever Pitt County division championship.
Dual-threat quarterback Nathan Ross, described by head coach K.J. Alston as “the glue guy,” has been pivotal, showcasing his versatility with a 35-yard touchdown pass and a rushing score in last week’s 30-0 playoff rout of Ayden. “He’s been great,” Alston said of Ross, who has powered the Rams’ offense all season.
Running back Kyler Davis is on the cusp of a milestone, sitting just 188 yards shy of 1,000 rushing yards. “He’s touting that bad boy,” Alston said, praising Davis’s explosive 191-yard, two-touchdown performance against Ayden.
The Rams’ success stems from a collective effort, with Alston emphasizing the team’s leadership: “Everyone steps up to the plate and plays their role.” The defense, which held Ayden to 70 yards, will look to stifle FarmVille’s attack.
Coming off a landmark win over Hope Middle—the first in over a decade—Greene County is riding high. A victory on Thursday would mark another milestone, cementing the Rams’ legacy in Pitt County.
