Lenoir County track championships: Woodington sweeps titles as county’s best compete

Woodington Middle sweeps conference championships at Lenoir County meet, 20 athletes qualify for states

Woodington Middle School turned in a dominant showing at the Lenoir County Middle School Conference Track and Field Championships on April 20 at South Lenoir High School, capturing both the boys and girls team titles against a field that included Rochelle Middle, Contentnea-Savannah, and E.B. Frink.

The Woodington boys totaled 109 points to finish first, followed by Contentnea-Savannah (58), Rochelle (46), and E.B. Frink (18). On the girls side, Woodington secured the championship with 89 points, ahead of Rochelle (67), Contentnea-Savannah (40), and E.B. Frink (36) . The meet featured 16 scored events for the boys and 17 for the girls, with points awarded based on finishes across running, field, and relay events.

In addition to the team championships, Woodington will send 20 athletes to the state championships on May 2, highlighting the program’s depth across multiple disciplines.
