The opening round of the NCHSAA soccer playoffs brought excitement across eastern North Carolina last night.
In 4A action, the #14 North Lenoir Hawks battled back from a 1–0 deficit to defeat #19 North Johnston in overtime, improving to 3–0 against the Panthers this season and punching their ticket to the second round.

The Hawks now sit at 12–12 overall (8–4 in conference) and will face #3 North Pitt, a familiar conference rival, in Thursday’s second-round matchup.

3A Playoffs

In the 3A bracket, #10 South Lenoir fell 4–0 on the road at #23 Spring Creek, ending the season with a 6–14–2 record.
Meanwhile, #3 Greene Central had a 1st round bye and will face Heide Trask after they defeated Beddingfield.

1A Playoffs

#14 Jones Senior received a first-round bye and will meet #3 Falls Lake on Thursday.
