North Lenoir sweeps Kinston in season opener

North Lenoir opened the 2026-27 Neuse News Sports season with a 3-0 volleyball victory over Kinston, winning 25-12, 25-16 and 25-9.

Camryn Jenkins led the Hawks with nine kills, 10 service points and six aces. Raye Tilghman added five kills, while Maddie Howard recorded 11 assists.

Kennedi Starkie finished with 16 service points and seven aces. Kenzie Carson added 11 service points and nine aces.

North Lenoir, coming off a 20-2 season, has won five consecutive season openers. The Hawks’ last season-opening loss came against SouthWest Edgecombe in 2021.

North Lenoir will host Beddingfield on Tuesday before welcoming Greene Central on Thursday.
