LA GRANGE — North Lenoir volleyball rolled past North Pitt in straight sets Tuesday, winning 25-5, 25-13, 25-7 to stay unbeaten in conference play. The Hawks moved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the league, the best overall record in the conference.
Camryn Jenkins led from the service line with 16 points, while Kennedi Starkie added 7 and Bijou Sutton chipped in 9. Setter Skye Doyle tallied 18 assists, Lakyn Whitley finished with 12 kills, and Fawn Creech controlled the net with 6 blocks.
Head coach Heather Carson said the match gave her roster valuable experience.
“It’s a good opportunity for everyone to get a chance to get in and play, and they did well,” Carson said.
On her team’s 8-1 start, Carson stressed growth.
“I just want our girls to keep getting better, get better on offense and defense,” she said. “Most importantly, getting them gelling and playing together.”
North Johnston (7-2, 3-0) and West Craven (7-3, 3-0) join the Hawks atop the conference standings. North Lenoir is currently ranked No. 14 in the state and No. 4 in the East in the latest RPI standings, which seed the playoffs.
The Hawks travel to Washington on Sept. 11.
