The Rochelle Middle School boys basketball team capped a perfect season on Jan. 29, finishing 9–0 after a 54–35 win over CSS to close the 2025–26 campaign.
The victory marked the final step in an unbeaten run built on conditioning, discipline, and daily commitment. Along the way, Rochelle also earned a win over Wilson Prep, adding to a résumé that reflected steady improvement throughout the season.
Head coach Kevin Johnson said the foundation of the team’s success was laid in practice.
“The boys practiced hard daily focusing in on conditioning for the better part of the season,” Johnson said. “They were all hard working and determined young men who set a goal at the beginning of the season and worked hard to achieve said goal.”
Johnson noted that the season’s growth went beyond wins and losses, pointing to the development he saw in his players over the course of the year.
“I could see growth in maturity, work ethic, and just knowing the hard work and dedication it takes to win,” he said. “These young men treated each other as brothers and were committed to each other.”
Rochelle’s boys roster featured contributions from every grade level.
