Rouse leads Bethel Christian past Jones Senior 10-5
Bethel Christian Academy used a big seventh inning and a strong performance at the plate from Suzanne Rouse to defeat Jones Senior 10-5 on Tuesday.
Rouse finished 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs as Bethel Christian piled up 12 hits in the win. Bailey Smith also collected three hits while Mikayla Cash added two hits for the Trojans.
Jones Senior struck first in the opening inning, scoring two runs after an error to take an early lead.
Bethel Christian answered in the fifth inning to take control. Rouse doubled and Mikayla Cash added another double to help the Trojans move in front 4-2.
The Trojans broke the game open in the seventh inning, scoring five runs on five hits. Rouse doubled to drive in a run, Emma Donoho added an RBI single, Bailey Smith singled home two runs, and Olivia Sanderlin contributed an RBI single during the rally.
Emersyn Smith earned the win in the circle for Bethel Christian. The right-hander allowed two hits and three runs, none earned, over 4⅔ innings while striking out five and issuing no walks. Rouse appeared in relief to help close out the game.
Bethel Christian was aggressive on the basepaths, finishing with seven stolen bases in the game.
For Jones Senior, Makenzie Maines drove in a run and went 1-for-4 at the plate. Maines, Riley Murphy, Trinity Leary, Bailey Carter, and Olivia Greenia each recorded a hit for the Trojans.
Jones Senior finished with five hits in the game.
Bethel Christian improves its momentum with the win and will return home Friday to face Community Christian.
