Woodington stays unbeaten, improves to 5-0 behind explosive offense
WOODINGTON — The Woodington Raiders continue to roll.
Behind big-time performances at the plate and steady pitching, Woodington pushed its record to 5-0 on the season with a pair of wins, including a 21-2 victory over CSS Cougars and a 10-5 win against Rosewood Middle.
The Raiders will look to keep that momentum going when they face Frink on April 1.
In the win over CSS, Woodington broke the game open with a 15-run third inning, turning a close contest into a rout. Jackson Taylor led the charge with seven RBIs, highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam. He also added a double and drew a bases-loaded walk.
Daelin Tyndall paced the Raiders at the plate, going 3-for-3, while Mason Schmick added two hits. Woodington showed patience throughout the lineup, drawing 10 walks in the game.
On the mound, Winston Faircloth earned the win, allowing just one hit and two runs (none earned) over three innings while striking out three.
Woodington carried that offensive rhythm into its matchup with Rosewood.
Landen Coples delivered one of the top performances of the season, collecting three hits in three at-bats, including a triple and a double. He also earned the win on the mound, striking out seven over three innings.
The Raiders responded quickly after falling behind early, taking control with a five-run second inning. Owen Houston contributed with a key double, while Coples’ triple brought in two runs during the surge.
Woodington added insurance runs in the third and played clean defense, committing no errors. Tyson Whaley was active in the field, leading the team in chances.
Through five games, Woodington has shown a consistent formula — aggressive hitting, disciplined at-bats, and reliable pitching.
Now, the Raiders turn their attention to Frink, with a chance to keep their unbeaten start intact.
