Greene County Middle Wins in Overtime Thriller Against Chicod
SNOW HILL — Greene County Middle School earned a dramatic 14-6 overtime win over Chicod on Wednesday to close out the regular season.
Quarterback Nathan Ross led the way with two rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime. On defense, Kaiden Cox recorded two pass deflections and two tackles, while Kyler Davis sealed the victory with a game-saving pass breakup.
Canaan Crowder led the Rams in tackles as Greene County’s defense limited Chicod to just 40 total yards.
With the win, Greene County improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, riding a three-game winning streak heading into next week’s playoffs.
Head coach K.J. Alston said Ross “stepped up huge for us. Most people game plan for Kyler and forget about our QB. He told me last week whatever I needed him to do, he’d do it.”
Alston also praised his staff, saying, “Huge shout out to Coach Jayme Tilley. He had the boys rolling on all cylinders. I couldn’t have asked for a better defensive coordinator. He did a great job studying Chicod and putting the boys in position to be successful.”
The Rams will open the playoffs next Wednesday. Location and time are to be announced.
