Kinston Ballers sweep boys and girls MCF Spring League championships
The Kinston Ballers completed a dominant run through the MCF Spring League, capturing both the boys and girls high school championships under coaches Tre Cordon and Carlos Parker.
The girls title game turned into a hard-fought battle against the WBA Wolves. Kinston controlled much of the contest before WBA took a five-point lead in the fourth quarter.
The Ballers answered late.
Ta’Sheena Lynch and Harmony Cardon came through with key baskets down the stretch, helping Kinston regain the lead and close out the championship.
Lynch delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks.
Ariel Jemison of White Oak added 13 points and seven rebounds to earn MVP honors, while Zacarria Brown of New Bridge Middle secured MVP recognition with 12 points and six assists.
Ja'Nya La'Shay Percell of South Lenoir finished with eight points, seven rebounds and eight blocks. Quaiva Smith of Greene Middle contributed six points, while Rayna Johnson and Lauryn Johnson of Woodington Middle added 5.5 and four points, respectively.
Mahogani Lockett of White Oak posted four points and four steals, Jamaya West recorded four steals, and Jervonna Shackleford added two points and five steals.
With timely execution late and strong performances across the roster, the Ballers secured the win and completed the MCF Spring League sweep.
