After a 10-13-1 campaign in 2024 that included a first-round playoff win at Midway, the Hawks are still learning and building with a roster that returned nearly intact — no major seniors departed last year.

NNS Midseason Update: Greene Central Volleyball

Greene Central volleyball has positioned itself well through the first half of the season, entering mid-September with an 8-5 record and a 2-0 start in conference play. The Rams have shown balance, holding a 5-1 mark at home and battling to a 3-4 record on the road, while riding the confidence of a three-match winning streak.

Weekly RPI Update: Week 4

The NCHSAA released its latest Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) standings this week, which determine playoff seeding across football, volleyball and soccer. RPI is calculated by a team’s winning percentage, its opponents’ winning percentage, and its opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage. Importantly, RPI is the only factor used to seed postseason brackets.

Vikings Hurdle Over Hawks 42-7

Kinston wasted no time Friday night, rolling past county rival North Lenoir 42-7 in a game that was never in doubt. The Vikings built a 42-0 lead before the Hawks finally scored on a kickoff return late in the fourth quarter. The victory marked Kinston’s ninth straight win in the rivalry.
