Angel Lee placed second at the NCHSAA Girls Regional Championships at South Davidson High School, becoming the first female wrestler in North Lenoir history — and the first from Lenoir County — to qualify for the NCHSAA State Championships. The state tournament will be held Feb. 19–21 in Greensboro.
Deitrich Williams captured state championships in the high jump (6-6) and triple jump (44-0.5), Keith Neal finished second in the shot put (45-6.5), Darryl Parham placed third in the 55-meter hurdles (7.95), and Kinston’s girls added a runner-up finish in the 4x200 relay (1:51.33) as the Vikings’ boys secured a fifth-place team finish at the NCHSAA 3A Indoor State Championships.

Kinston delivered a historic statement on both ends of the floor, overwhelming Tarboro 96-11 to set a program scoring record, post the largest margin of victory in school history, and remain unbeaten in conference play at 6-0.
GCMS completed an undefeated conference run and captured its third straight Division 2 regular season championship by closing the regular season with wins over Ayden and Grifton.

Coming off a blowout win in their previous game, the Greene Central Rams looked to carry that momentum into their matchup against the Tarboro Vikings. The Rams did just that, earning their second straight dominant victory. A huge third quarter proved to be the difference as Greene Central pulled away for a 73-42 win.
